My
Philosophy
I have always felt a pull and a feeling of deep admiration towards pregnancy, birth, babies, and motherhood. After having the honor of witnessing and supporting many births over the last few years, I see pregnancy and birth as something so magical. I believe that birth holds an immense power to imprint on mother-baby, shaping their bond and journey together.
I don’t see birth as the medical event that it’s so often made out to be. It’s so much more than that. When physiological birth unfolds, it can be experienced as a majorly transformational spiritual and sacred life event. The moment you meet your baby is the moment you cross your threshold into new parenthood, and that is so much bigger than a medical event. Our current birthing norms in our society have strayed far from the very basics of birth. Birth at its very core is instinctual, intuitive, primal and raw. When we rely on the heavy use of medical intervention for birth, this can dilute and even erase our birthing instincts and intuition.
In my work as a birth doula, I draw my knowledge from the births I’ve had the honor of witnessing over the last few years. I’ve learned so much from the amazing families who I’ve journeyed with. I also incorporate the principles of Birthing From Within, ensuring a holistic approach to the birthing process.
My hope is that through our journey together through pregnancy leading up to your birth that you form a deep trust in your own body’s innate ability to birth your baby, and your baby’s intelligent role in the whole process. My goal is to guide you to dig deep within to search for your wisdom and inner knowing as a new mother.

Birth
Art
Birth preparation can often feel overwhelming. It usually includes gathering facts about birth, choosing a provider, pain-coping techniques, and exploring your options of where to birth… The list goes on and on.
One way we prepare for birth is through books, childbirth education classes, and quick internet searches. We also unconsciously learn from birth stories and common narratives around birth.
Most of the information gathered in a childbirth class or books can feel like a far-off dream when in laborland. (Which is why it’s crucial to have a birth team that can best support YOU!). Often I’ve heard parents describe their birth journey as a trip… losing any concept of time and ego.
Another kind of learning can be done through art or even journaling. Birth art gives us practice with stepping into the unfamiliar. It can bring us clarity. Or even reveal something new. While using our creative right brain, and tapping into the unconscious mind, just as our labor brain naturally does, art can help us prepare in a (fun) new way.
Educating yourself and learning your rights in the birth space is absolutely crucial. But, by occasionally setting conscious learning aside, and letting our intuition lead us, we can help quiet our minds…and it can even be healing.
Having experienced the power of creating art throughout my own life, including Birthing From Within birth art processes, I am excited to be able to offer this therapeutic process to clients as part of my practice.
